Privacy Policy

Last Updated: February 2026

Refuelr (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights over that data.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account information: Email address, username (required for account creation and authentication).
  • Fuel records: Odometer readings, fuel amounts, costs, dates, and station information you enter into the app.
  • Vehicle information: Make, model, year, and other details of vehicles you add.
  • Trip data: Trip distances, categories, and associated fuel records.
  • Maintenance records: Scheduled and completed maintenance events.
  • App preferences: Units, currency, theme, country, and notification settings stored locally on your device.
  • Crash reports: Anonymised crash and error information via Firebase Crashlytics to help us fix bugs.

We do not collect precise location data, contacts, photos (beyond voluntary receipt scans), or payment information.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and maintain the Refuelr service (fuel tracking, statistics, maintenance reminders).
  • To sync your data across sessions via our backend API.
  • To send account-related emails (OTP verification, password reset) when you request them.
  • To improve app stability and fix bugs using crash report analytics.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

3. Data Storage and Security

  • On-device: Authentication tokens are stored in Android’s EncryptedSharedPreferences (AES-256 encryption). App preferences are stored in DataStore.
  • On our servers: Your account and fuel data are stored on our backend infrastructure. Data is transmitted exclusively over HTTPS (TLS).
  • Third-party services:
    • Firebase (Google): Crashlytics for crash reporting; Firebase Analytics for aggregate usage statistics. See Firebase Privacy.
    • Google Sign-In: Optional OAuth authentication. See Google Privacy Policy.

4. Your Rights (GDPR and equivalents)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the UK, or other jurisdictions with equivalent data protection laws, you have the following rights:

  • Right of access: You can export all your fuel records as a CSV file from the app (Settings → Export Data).
  • Right to deletion: You can permanently delete your account and all associated data from the app (Settings → Delete Account). This action is irreversible.
  • Right to rectification: You can edit any fuel record, vehicle, or trip directly in the app.
  • Right to data portability: Your exported CSV contains all fuel data in a machine-readable format.
  • Right to object: You can disable crash reporting analytics by contacting us (see Section 7).

5. Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed from our servers within 30 days. Crash report data retained by Firebase Crashlytics is subject to Google’s retention policies.

6. Children’s Privacy

Refuelr is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately.
